Rose Mallow

Note from Sundara... For reasons I won't bore you with, I've had to dip into my "emergency" stash of yarn that I keep on hand to dye up for you all. Today's yarn is the absolute bottom of the bin NOT because it is undesirable in anyway but because it is a cotton/linen and requires an entirely different type of dye than what I normally use. The dye I normally use works on "protein" fibers (wool, silk, alpaca, etc) and this yarn is plant fibers. But I ordered this yarn on accident and given that I order my yarn from England, it's too much trouble to return it. So I've kept it at the bottom of my emergency dye bin because I haven't wanted to deal with it.

But events occurred (or rather didn't occur) and I, thankfully, had ordered one color of dye that would work on this yarn (pink because you know, that's my favorite color, and this is apparently all about me) and I went to town.

Let me be clear: I had absolutely NO IDEA what would happen or how this would turn out. Hence, why there is just a photo of yarn and no daily dream. But you know? I like it. I won't EVER be dyeing this yarn again. It's way too much trouble to add a second type of dye to the rotation. But, for today, just this once, you all get a cotton and linen yarn. And who doesn't like some cotton and linen from time to time?

As for the yarn: it's a little rough but I think it will soften up significantly upon washing. And you know, I'm comparing "rough" to cashmere, so take that with a grain of salt. It's quite lovely for cotton and linen. I'd wear it. Maybe as little tee or a tank? Or something you might think of that is more creative?

"Rose Mallow" will not be dyed again. Fingering Cotton Linen will not ever be available again. Updated: One batch left.

Fingering Cotton Linen is 383 yards and 100 grams of 60% organic cotton and 40% linen.
7 stitches per inch on US 3/3.25mm needles.
Gently hand wash in tepid water for project longevity.
Orders for 2+ skeins will be matched as closely as possible.
