Note from Sundara...My mother's Tropicana roses are blooming, which is always exciting, and I've always wanted to dye yarn inspired by their color, but I've never had the right red dye to create their particular shade. You'd think, with the vast numbers of red and yellow dyes available (there are A LOT) that I'd be able to come up with that particular shade easily, but you'd be surprised how difficult it is to come up with that hue. Or it could be that where most people see "red" I see eighteen different shades of crimson and I'm just super picky. Such is my cross to bear in life. 😉

Anyway! A new red dye came out, and it turned out to be the PERFECT red to create the Tropicana roses hue, so I was finally able to dye the thoroughly unique Tropicana orange color that I have no words to describe but that I hope you will "know it when you see it" because it is amazing. Also, my version is a bit more deconstructed, so there is some darker, reddish-orange bits on one side of the spectrum and then everything in between until we reach the almost yellow-orange bits. But only SLIGHTLY. It's all very subtle. And striking and amazing and very cheery, bright summer roses loveliness.

"Tropicana" may or may not be dyed again. I haven't decided. But there are only two batches of this available, and if I dye more, it will be on a different yarn base. It is super spectacular on the silky merino, so get some if you have the desire. Yarn will ship later next week.

Extra Fine Fingering Silky Merino is 437 yards and 100 grams of 75% super wash merino and 25% mulberry silk.
7 stitches per inch on US 3/3.25mm needles.
Gently hand wash in tepid water for project longevity.

The Telltale Tulip
extra fine lace silky merino
Sold out

Note from Sundara...I've been meaning to offer this color in the lace silky merino for weeks, but I had to wait until I got more black dye, as all the dyeing of this color used up the black dye I had on hand. But I know lots of you wanted this color, so here it finally is.

Since the dye only just arrived and my day yesterday didn't go exactly as planned, I didn't get this yarn dyed in time to photograph, so the photo is of the sport. I apologize. The lace is dyed, but cooling in my dye pots. It's more amazing than I imagined, and will be dry and ready to ship next week. Hopefully, you all can imagine that color in finer strands and a bit of shimmer.

"The Telltale Tulip" will not be dyed again. Seriously, I'm pretty much done dyeing this color. If you have been desperate for this color and haven't had a chance to get some, but lace isn't your thing, I'd recommend holding two strands together to get a fingering weight. Your project will be even better than if you'd knit with a regular fingering weight yarn, as the color will be more complex.

Extra Fine Lace Silky Merino is 875 yards and 100 grams of 75% super wash merino and 25% mulberry silk.
8 stitches per inch on US 3/3.25mm needles.
Gently hand wash in tepid water for project longevity.
Orders for 2+ skeins will be matched as closely as possible.

Note from Sundara...I'm not sure what possessed me to dye such an October, Halloween-ish inspired yarn in July. But you know, here we are, and we won't delve into the depths of my possible psychosis because this color is fabulous!

It's all muted teal veering somehow into both green and blue. I don't know how it does that but I really can't figure out if it is teal-blue or teal-green. You'll have to get some and decide.

There are undertones of grey, but just subtle enough that you can use this for whatever stitch pattern you'd like, and the pattern will shine through. It's lovely.

"The Haunted Wood" will not be dyed again because I have no idea how I dyed this. Three batches available. Yarn will ship sometime next week.

Extra Fine Sport Merino is 328 yards and 100 grams of 100% super wash merino.
6 stitches per inch on US 5/3.75mm needles.

Red Poppy
Italian fingering merino cashmere

Note from Sundara...I had a lovely customer mention how fantastic a yarn inspired by the oriental red poppies blooming in her yard would be. Since my mother happened to have those same red poppies blooming and I had thought the same thing, I gave it some thought. Then, I had another customer ask for a red "flame" inspired yarn for her to knit a shawl with, and then another customer ask for a "yellow, orange, and red" yarn for her to knit something for her daughter, and you know the universe was telling us we needed bright red poppy yarn.

I don't think I need to tell you much about the color because it is pretty much exactly as it looks. Hopefully it meets all of their desires. If this is too much bright for you, but you really simply MUST have some for yourself, knit something with lots of holes. Lace diffuses the color and makes feel less bright and less intense. But if you want super bright and super intense, then go crazy. Whatever you knit, it will be stupendous.

"Red Poppy" will not be dyed again. Just under three batches available because a couple of skeins had issues. Yarn will ship sometime next week.

Italian Fingering Merino Cashmere is 383 yards and 100 grams of 80% super wash merino, 10% cashmere, and 10% nylon.

Note from Sundara...I have been meaning to dye up a pale yellow in the gold sparkle fingering merino for months but keep getting side tracked with other colors––but no more! I was so pleased with how it turned out. It's pale yellow and sparkly and gorgeous.

Then I photographed it and remembered that pale yellow is one of my least favorite colors to photograph. No matter what I do it makes me want to go hide under a rock because the yarn always looks awful in the photo. So please, pretend that this is super pretty yarn the color of those roses with flecks of gold sparkle running through it. And if that color is your thing, you'll love this yarn.

"Glowing Petals" will not be dyed again but I will have other shades of yellow gold sparkle yarn dyed in the future because I adore the combination of yellow and gold sparkle. Three batches available. Yarn will ship sometime next week.

Gold Sparkle Fingering Merino is 437 yards and 100 grams of 80% super wash merino, 15% nylon, and 5% gold stellina.

Glittering Peonies
silver sparkle fingering merino
Glittering Peonies
silver sparkle fingering merino

Note from Sundara...I admit this is not the best photo for this yarn. But I couldn't find a good photo for what I wanted, and this was as close as I could get to "glittering peonies." Because peonies are blooming, and how could we let this pass us by without some pink sparkle peony inspired yarn? We absolutely could not!

So this is a lovely pale pink with silver sparkles flowing through it. It's a cooler pink than the pale pink cherry blossom gold sparkle yarn I did a few months ago, for those of you keeping track. But it is just as delightful and just as pink and just as sparkly.

"Glittering Peonies" will not be dyed again but pale pink sparkle yarn will be dyed again in some form at some point in the future because how could I not? Just three batches available. Yarn will ship next week.

Silver Sparkle Fingering Merino is 437 yards and 100 grams of 80% super wash merino, 15% nylon, and 5% silver stellina.

Note from Sundara...I dyed a yarn with a similar inspiration a few years ago––long time customers may remember "Beyond the Pale." This feels a bit like a more sophisticated version of that color. It's got more going on, as Beyond the Pale was all a shade of pale, pale green, whereas this, obviously, has the pale pale green, but it's got the added pale, pale indigo. It's quite ethereal and divine.

I'm glad I chose the singles yarn for this particular color, as the smoothness of this particular yarn gives the color a glow-y sheen that I wouldn't be able to achieve with any of the other yarn bases. It's different from the silk. That's a glossy sheen, whereas this is a smooth, luminous sheen. It'll be amazing whatever you choose to knit.

"Light and Luminous" will not be dyed again. Just three batches available. Yarn will ship sometime next week.

Fingering Merino Singles is 437 yards and 100 grams of 100% super wash merino.

Note from Sundara...This is such an interesting color. It's not a color I've dyed often, in that the flashes of that pink sort of both sit on and meld in with the greyish stormy blues in a way that I"m not sure I can replicate. It's sort of up to the magic of the dye pots.

And of course, it's super soft, with that sheen of the silky merino that makes the color all the better. If I had the time and I could wear these sorts of blues, I'd keep some of this for myself just so I could see how it knits up. But alas, I can't, so I'll have to live vicariously through you. Someone please send me a photo of whatever you knit this up into so I can ooh and aah at what you knit and be super jealous.

"Lost in the Light" will not be dyed again. Just two batches available. Yarn will ship sometime next week.

Note from Sundara...I came across this photo a couple weeks ago and have been obsessing about it ever since. I mean look at that green! Those rolling hills! The glorious aesthetic minimalism of the composition. It's a dream!

I went with sport for the yarn because it gives us the most versatility. You can knit a sweater if you really want a lot of green. But we all know sport is fine for shawls and lace and what have you. So I hopefully will satisfy all my green lovers with the gauge.

And as for the color, this is loosely considered a "solid" so throw at it whatever you want. Cables. Lace. Colorwork. Whatever. Except there is a lot of variation going on within that "solid" grass green. Stockinette or garter will be just as interesting as the most complicated stitch pattern. And I don't need to say anything about the glory that is this green. It's grass green at its finest. Have at it.

"Undulating" will most likely not be dyed again but my arm is willing to be twisted.
Just three batches available. Yarn will ship sometime next week.

Note from Sundara...this is one of my very oldest vintage colors and is dyed very differently than most of my yarns. The skeins are immersed in lovely cherry blossom pink and then a short section of the skein is dipped in the brown, to represent the branches that peek through the profusion of pink blossoms. It's a striking color.

I've dyed it at a customer request, as this color has fascinated her for years and she's excited to get her hands on it at long last. She was also excited to get to try this new fingering merino singles yarn. So this is doubly exciting for her and hopefully doubly exciting for most of you! Just three batches available.
